I have a 1980ish Mitsubishi 50 hp tractor. I cannot find a manusal for it, it is a D4000. The diesel engine is a 4DQ5. What diesel oil should I put in it? It shows 256 hours and I am in central Texas so we have fairly moderate winters and very hot summers.

Okay, thanks. I was trying to figure about how many quarts to put in before I check oil level. Again no service manual avalable, how many quarts to I need to have max? I am pretty far out of town.

Here is a website with information about that engine: https://barringtondieselclub.co.za/mitsubishi/mitsubishi-4dq5.html

Buy 3 gallons.Or better still ,a 5 gallon bucket. Save extra for future use,it wont go bad.It could take anywhere from 6 qts to 12(or more) quarts. Check dipstich after 5 qts. Add more. Periodicly check till oil level is at full. Start engine, run for a minute or two to fill filters. Then recheck and add a quart.A 'fuzz' over full wont hurt a thing. It's not rocket science.

(quoted from post at 22:31:48 01/15/20) I go for single weight, 30w. I like to lubricate my engines with oil not polymers.

Tom, most guys want to try get the maximum life from their machines.

I typed in... operators manual it is a D4000 engine is a 4DQ5.... on the internet manuals are available.....

Okay I will check it out. I believe the engine is used on many machines. I have not been able to find the tractor manual. Specs for the engine yes.
