While I imagine a lot of people are pretty much up on what's good to eat, I doubt many producers are ignorant,,,,, they eat too. gm

I learned a new word today ...... interesting stuff. Sort of like old tractor guys giving legal and medical advice on an old tractor forum since lawyers and doctors don't have a clue about what they do for a living. There must be a name for that ..... ha!

Well Larry, hopefully you and I have no health issues in our futures but if we do, I'm gonna run to my family doctor quick like and you can visit the tractor forum. We'll both be happy and hopefully you'll be lucky ..... LOL !!!

Yep... saw an example of that just yesterday. Some citiot was saying how bad corn is for livestock. Also said cows should have a "plant-based diet".

I don't often see people here giving medical or legal advice. What I do see is people asking to find out what other peoples outcomes or experiences are to help them to make choices.

One of my daughters works for Whole Foods, I sometimes visit her and hang out in the small dining area just for the people watching, can be very entertaining !

Looks like their manure pit to me. They would pump it out and spread it when conditions are right. However there are those that don't do it right. Just like anything there are bad ones, but overall I think we farmers are a pretty mindful bunch. More so than citiots that just don't get it

Right, onefarmer, that is the manure lagoon, which of course is clay lined and built to exacting specs since there was gov't money involved. Then when the manure is pumped out and spread it has to be spread at the right time and quantity to avoid excessive use and possible run-off to a stream. Fortunately Gary is available to Orgosplain it.

I'm no expert in this "field" and have no explanations. I merely posted something that I think reflects on an issue that's going to effect everyone on the planet in some way in due course. The second photo was posted with CAFO's in mind, spurred by onefarmer's meme. I don't believe these are especially beneficial to mankind in general and in the long run are harmful to family farming. The entire legislative picture here in MO. appears to be geared to the takeover of agribusiness by corporate farming. Any legal steps taken that favor corporate farms over farmer owned operations are, I think, a step in the wrong direction. As you stated, onefarmer, "overall I think we farmers are a pretty mindful bunch." It's corporate/profit driven operations with owners that DO live in these smoke infested city's, (or in China), and couldn't care less about the guy down the road from his investment that worries me. gm
