Anyone ever done a electirc pump coversion on old ford deisel tractor? Bad umbrella seal im assuming so looking for budget build ideas...

If I'm understanding what your saying is, can I use an electric
Pump to bypass or fix my leaking seals.

NO
The seals are in the injection pump, and you need that pump
Regardless how you supply it.

Ok thanks just was curious if i could
delete and block off the original 1958 ford
mechanical pump bypass or upgrade to a
electric pump convetsion maybe?

Ok thank you any idea where to purchase umbrella seal or part number or name of the part i need? i called local tractor part store in town and they never heard of a umbrella seal lol. Searching for a 1961 for 801 series 861-d tractor standoyne pump rebuild kit or umbrella seal. Thank you slim.

The seal is Stanadyne 10453, but new seals probably won't fix it if the retainer ring is failing inside. Sometimes pumps I repair need a new housing tube also if worn.

Call a fuel injector pump shop in your area. Give them the model number off the tag on your pump. They can get you the seals, tell you the right way to remove and install the pump, and possibly loan you the 2 tools to install the seals.

No offense meant here, but... considering the questions you are asking, If I were you, I would take the pump off and ship it to Dieseltech.

There are a couple suppliers that sell seal kits for the Roosa Master pumps online.

Ok thanks again im gonna attempt to purchase a seal and in house rehad this old tractor. I just dont have the 1k dllrs they want for for rebuild so any redneck hack ideas on how to duct tape zip tie and jb weld ill be good lol.

Umbrella seal is on the injection pump shaft, not the lift pump, very few fords used a lift pump anyhow, but you obviously can't replace the injection pump with an electric pump like you could a lift pump. Luckily they aren't too bad to change, seal itself is pretty cheap if you have pump off can do it yourself or have a shop change it.
