Is Bush Hog 2426 loader adaptable M/F 285 (no cab) tractor?

Hello Forum! Is there anybody on here that can tell me if a Bush Hog #2426 front-end loader is adaptable to my M/F 285???
The loader was on a M/F 283, very similar tractor. However, the mounting brackets will not fit.
I contacted Bush Hog factory, & was told that they no longer make the mounting brackets, nor could they tell me if loader would, or not, fit my tractor.
Any and all help & information is surely appreciated!!!
Thank You!!!
Kevin-

I expect you will have to fabricate/modify the brackets you have. Varying amounts of cutting, welding, time, and money can accomplish most anything.

The German-Bliss website shows a mounting kit for a 275, not a 285. You might call them and see if they know if it will fit, since they are a Woods dealer. Of course if they did make a mounting kit that fit the 285, it likely is NLA, from the info the factory gave you.

Hello!
Thank You!
Yes, I once had access to fab shop, & even the skills to do fab work. BUT, Life sometimes changes, in different directions! LOL!
I've researched web-sites, every one of them, to no avail. There is different loaders available at everything from auction houses, to individuals, across our U.S.
Just no solution to adapt the M/F 285 to a Bush Hog 2426!
Thank You for the help!

If the two tractors are similar in size and horsepower, it's probably the right loader for the tractor as far and capacity and weight goes.

Realistically you're never going to find the exact right brackets. If you do they will be on a tractor with a loader and they're not going to sell you just the brackets.

Since you can't do the fabrication yourself, find yourself a local fabricator to do the work. These days there are a lot of young up and coming welders looking to build their business. Their rates tend to be lower than the established shops so it shouldn't cost you a whole lot.

KDW, you came here asking for help. I suggest that you go back and read each response again. The advice that each has given you is not only correct, but is correct for you and your 285. I have sold two loaders that came with old Fords that I had purchased. Both of them were then mounted on VERY DIFFERENT tractors.

Perhaps the best coarse of action for you is to talk to dealers for other aftermarket loaders (Westedorf, Koyker, Farm King, etc.) and see what they have for new loader options, with mounting kit and instructions, to fit your 285. Unless you get real, real lucky and find the one person that adapted brackets for a 2426 to a 285 that wants to get rid of them; buying a complete new set up is the only way I see you getting a "plug and play" loader for your tractor. JMHO

Jim, I don't think that many YTers are limited to plug and play If we can't cut and weld a few pieces of steel ourselves, we know a guy who will.

I don't disagree, most have those resources. However someone has to purchase new for people like us to refurbish in the future. There is nothing wrong with going that route, and for some people buying new and getting a dealer install is the best way to go. Circumstances often dictate what is best for each case. In this case it just sounds like the suggestions we made don't fit his resources and need at this time. I hope he can find something that meets his needs.
