Delco alternators

So I have replaced many generators with 10SI alternators and they work good. Right now I have a 162 Continental engine that was in a welder or pump. It came with a 10DI alternator. What would I need use the 10DI in a Massey 101Junior. Or should I just get a 10SI?

The DN needs an external regulator and is, thus, not as easy to install, or as reliable. I would go with the 10SI. Jim

Poor old DN cant get no love! There is a regulator that will fit on the back of the DN to convert it to a one wire type alternator. Been using them for years, and haven't had a single failure. Oldest one was done in oh 83 or 84 there abouts and works just as good now as it did when we put it on.

This is what I use on 10DNs. (Although not from these guys. I can get mine locally much cheaper.) As I said, it converts it to a one wire alternator, and is adjustable. Theres nothing wrong with the 10SI, but since you already have the DN, why not use it.

Is there a part number for that external add on conversion reg -- or what is it called so as one could get it on ebay ? Thankyou

Check the link I posted above. There are a couple of different types, but as I mentioned in that post, those cost more than what I pay for them.

The 12si is the same physical size and can be had in ratings up to 94amp.
That will pump a charge into a battery when a 10si is slower .
