SH sputtering when it accelerates

My SH had been idle for9 months or more.
WHen I started it I needed to keep pulling the choke on for it to run. I flushed carburator with carb cleaner. In the top air screw . pulled drain plug and flushe. Flushed thru the inlet.
Now it runs good and idles good but when I load it , it sputters before accelerating like it's starved. then it takes off.
What do You think?

Check the spark, points, point gap, distributor for wear, plugs, wires.

Can also be partially clogged main jet. Dried ethanol will need to be physically scraped out of the jet, chemicals and air won't get it all.

Maybe just cold weather and is frosting up the draft tube from carb to intake manifold., and gas is not atomizing well until it get nice and warm.-----------Loren

In addition to having a clean carburetor that meters enough gas for acceleration, the centrifugal spark advance in the distributor needs to be working properly to deal with acceleration/higher RPM's.

Adjusting the load screw (bottom of bowl pointing forward) Counter clockwise will richen it some. If it makes no difference, the meetering holes in the main jet are probably plugged. 1/2 turn at a time is reasonable. Don't over do it or it will foul plugs and use excess fuel. Jim
