The new swather is home.A friend hauled it for me. I made him load it and unload it. LOL Now to practice driving it! I have an over grown field to practice on.Have never owned(or driven) a self propelled machine before.

what model, and color? lol. don't know how a person gets along with out self propelled unit.

just get an open space to play with it. Be careful if you leave it sitting running I have a neighbor who had to chase his NH down while it was gong in a circle. Another with a nick in the corner of a barn when it started moving with no one in the cab. nce you get used to it you will wonder how you got by without it.

Never owned or driven a selfpropelled machine befor? Then just what are those John Deere combines you have had and posted pictures of? Should drive no different except location of controls from the combines.

A swather steers off the front end kinda like driving a bumper car nothing at all like a combine. They aren?t bad you just don?t make any really sudden moves with the wheel once you get onto it you can pull the hydrostatic lever to nuetral spin around 360 degrees shove the lever forward drop the header and go like a scalded cat

Verry verry few around my area and most what are here do steer from rear like a combine.

They aren?t that popular in certain areas especially in areas with smaller fields they work great in smaller fields but they are quite an investment and a lot more to maintain than a sickle bar mower or haybine as you can see you have another engine with all its fuel and electrical systems then you have the hydrostatic drives and larger tires than a pull type machine and then you have all the drives for the swather header itself
