I'm new to this forum, and old tractors in general. My neighbor has one that is in need of repair. I'm trying to help get it working again but not certain of the yr make model and such. The way that Ford labeled them is a bit confusing. I believe this is an 1959-65 Ford industrial 3000 4cyl 2wd gas with loader. Any help to be for certain on all the specs would help tremendous in getting the right parts so it can work again.

The first thing to get is the owners manual and repair manual. A parts manual can be useful to see how the parts look and go together even if you never order a part form
it.

Thanks a bunch I will be on the lookout for those I believe this one needs trans work so... definitely need service manual I have found some online do you have a recomend???

Probably a 4000 industrial, 63 or 64 model.
The serial number is located on the flat area behind the starter near the air cleaner.

Very good I have found a series of numbers. This is for certain a 4140 1 S but the other numbers are not clear above the 4140 there is 33501 below these is a partial due to the hose rubbing to the air cleaner rubbing for years 3 <>

41401S
4**** = 172 engine which was used in the 4000 model
*1*** = Industrial and Ag models built after 1963
**40* = Heavy Duty industrial w/sub frame
****1 = Four spd trans with pto
The suffix S normally stands for Sherman aux trans, if so there should be a shift lever on the left side of the trans in front of the clutch pedal or a hole in the side of the clutch housing were the lever once was.
The tractor is a 4000 industrial with 4 spd trans and pto, possibly has Sherman aux trans but I'm not fully versed on the Sherman.

33501 is a serial number for a tractor build in 1963

Yes the transmission does have that shift lever in front of the clutch pedal. To my knowledge this is a high/low range for the transmission. Any reference for parts trany rebuild or manuals. Thank you for all your knowledge and help keep passing it on. I was able to make out what also looked like AG531<> but it is rubbed smoothe could this be the model
