That?s a good point, but through the 30?s many of those earlier manufactures were absorb or transitioned to the inline engines which left JD as the last manufacturer building the cross-motor design. Allis Chalmers? early entry was cross motor. Aultman-Taylor built cross-motor design until ?24. Timely built cross-motor design until 1930. A-T was absorbed by Rumely which was absorbed by AC and the cross-motor design for those lines were gone.
