Cenex Auto Gold In Collector Tractors?

I have a 55 gal barrel of 5W-20 Cenex Auto Gold synthetic blend oil. I don't have a vehicle use for it and wondered if it would be OK to use it in my gas collector tractors. None of them do any work other than driving to a show. JD two cylinders, ACs and Olivers. I know I could sell the barrel and buy something else but I have this and would get a fraction of it's value to sell it.

Pretty expencive oil for an old tractor. A bit thin too. Might be better off to sell the drum.If unopened, maybe get half of new?

I'd say use it. I've used 5w 20 Mobil One in my pickup hauling heavy loads down the highway to pulls for 299,000 + miles. Tootling around the place in your pleasure tractors should be ok, in my opinion. gm

If it's still factory sealed, I'd try to sell it.

If it's been opened about all you can do is try to use it up or give it away.

Going to take a long time to go through that much though...

I would not put oil that thin into an old engine like that.

Tractor engines were not made to the tight tolerances that modern engines are. Clearances were larger and tolerances were looser when those engines were built. The oil will probably work OK, but I would expect a bit more mechanical engine noise from them.

Thanks for all the feedback. My mechanic says to go ahead and use it. It is not sealed and I have no other use for it. My tractors are just for fun and only run for a few hours a year. I will try it in my JD 630.

Some of the 2 cylinder tractors call for either a 40 or 50 weight oil some for a 30 weight oil. If they call for a 30 weight and are not worn then for that use you should be OK but if they are worn and called for a 40 weight oil then no. But then it can also depend on temperature at time of use and how long you are running them.
