Does anyone remember a children?s book that Deere sold back in the 50s or early 60s by that name? I had that book as a child. All the tractors were 2 cylinders.I googled it and it is still available. That movie ?Cars? made me think of it.

Got it as a kid during the late 1960's and loved it. Don't know where that copy is any more. Would not mind having a copy today for the nostalgia. A good message to keep equipment under cover when not being used (if possible).

Yep. We bought the John Deere storybooks for our kids in the 90's.

Donated them, once the kids grew up.

My uncle had the old original book us kids would read. I bought a newer reprint for my niece. There was a couple of them if I remember right.

When I was about 4-5 yrs old the FURROW magazine had a picture of a NFE 730-D pulling Santa's sleigh. I REALLY liked that tractor. 5 years later Dad bought me "My tractor", an R diesel. After about an hour on that thing the fun was totally completely gone. After an hour I always felt like somebody put a 5 gallon bucket over my head and beat the daylights out of the bucket with a baseball bat. Neighbor across the fence had a 730-D, could hear it a mile away, it would have been worse than the R. I spent 10-12 sometimes longer days on the Super M-TA & 450, no problem. I remember one day, only 20 acres left to plow, started that 20 just before sunrise, finishing the last land with the headlights on, still had headlands to plow. Was getting really drowsy. Had to run just over a quarter mile each way for gas THREE times. But I got'er done!
