Maybe my old Ford ain't big enough? Or
this JD is a bit of over kill?

The John Deere is definitely over kill, but if that is what you have, that is what you use. Probably will not use any more fuel than the Ford in the other picture.

Bet that Deere could spin the PTO into a pretzel with no problem. Actually it would help you find any bad spiders in that PTO. I don't know about that same amount of fuel deal. :)

It is so you can see the bales dropping out of the baler. In the 1970s I sold a lot of IH 440 balers because here in the UK farmers were just starting to use automatic collecting sledges and the IH 440 balers were better to see over than a lot of the compertition. MJ.

Oh, I get it! The insinuation here is that the person running the tiny baler with the giant tractor thinks he NEEDS that much tractor to handle the baler!

Wow he is sooooooo DUMB! LOL!

Yup, most likely scenario. If he's like the rest of us, if you have 11 tractors, there is usually something wrong with ten of them.

If the baler is 540 rpm the tractor is only running at an idle so would not be producing much power. It would be nice for turning on the ends especially pulling a wagon and hey its probably got a/c

Your right the gas engine ford will burn more fuel on that baler than the Diesel engine in the big tractor

I?ve honestly considered hooking my 8430 to the MoCo. When it is sitting there not used for tillage and the other machines have something hooked it is tempting. My 8430 has the pto and drawbar awfully close together, though. I have to be careful with the grain cart and have it on good level ground to unload. I wouldn?t want rolling land to run pto on that baler.

Last farm I worked on, the rake tractor was 160hp. What was available to pull a 5 wheel rake.

Pulled the baler with 140 hp. Whether it was a round baler or little old square. The IVT was really nice on the baler.

Not worth having other tractors around for 300-400 of each size bale.

And neither of those tractors was big enough to do much field work.

The problem is you would not be able to turn short enough on the corners. I purt the 8430 on the 750 drill and had to put on alot of end rows.
