Was sorting through old pictures and came across this one of my first car in 1964. It was a 54 monarch 4dr.which made me think of Rusty6. picture was taken at Regina which is probably not that far from him.

Nice! Those older cars had "Class". I wonder if 55 years from now someone would say the same about any of the cars made in 2019. If any are still running. joe

I was waiting for you to say "wish I still had it". My first was a 1964 Ford
Galaxy two door business coupe with the straight six engine. What a boat!
Looking ahead I have my new to me 2014 LE Ford Expedition battle cruiser. Some
how things would be a bit if I was 120 years old and somehow I just don't think
my big bad Battle cruiser would make it 55 years either. :)

I think any of the cars built today would stand a good chance of still being alive 50-60 years from now.

I posted below about my dad having a Ford about that vintage. It was sold not running in about 1965. At only 12-13 years old it was no longer a road worthy car. And he owned a garage so fixing it would have cost him little more than the parts.

I don't remember it being rusted out or wrecked, it was just an old car with little resale value, no air conditioner, no bells and whistles.

Today it would be worth a considerable amount as a survivor or restored.

But thinking about the here and now, just about any 12-13 year old car, even with high mileage, doesn't seem that old to me. As long as it's not a rust bucket, I would still consider it a modern car.

I would consider about anything with fuel injection and OBD2 to be still a daily driver, so that would go back what, about 25 years!

Maybe I'm just getting old! LOL

Really nice Monarch. Being 54 it would have the "y block" overhead valve V8. I prefer the 52-53 versions but sure wouldn't refuse a 54 if one came along. Yes, Regina, the big city is an hour and a half away. I avoid it as much as possible.

Have these on the farm across the lake from your former residence Leon. Dan-LLB

Do you have plans for them?

My first was 10 years old and cost $135,Next was 9 years old and cost $300,last one was 16 years old and cost $1500 and I immediately had to have the transmission rebuilt.I guess that's the difference between a '48 Ford,a'50 Merc and a '96 Blazer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Dan, still on the hobby farm in BC and playing with the toys. Haven't been back to LLB in years. If you ever get this way give me a call. Leon

(quoted from post at 09:40:14 12/08/19) Have an expressed interest in them from a car guy.
My friend had a 53 merc and he took the flathead out and and put a ohv 56 292 ci in. The car was 3 speed with od and lower rearend ratio for drag racing.

My great grandmother spent her early years
in Saskatchewan. She mentioned Regina and
saskatoon but I can't remember which they
lived near. I think she was born in 03,
when she was being stalked by wolves she
would hold onto the cows' tails.

They needed a new sauerkraut barrel, so her
dad went to the other town and got an empty
barrel from the railroad.
