DECEMBER 7,1941

I sure hope some of the idiots that got our towns V J day parade shut down because it was offense to the Japanese that were living in the community watch and realize what started the US involvement in the war.

As said "Remember Pearl Harbor"

God Bless America, keep her great, keep her secure, keep her free of Socialism, hopefully all here can agree on those.

PC strikes again. We must cancel something we know nothing about.

My grandfather was there fresh out of boot camp.He told me he and another guy. Were told to go see the town. Nothing ever happens around here on Sunday.

My Dad was a Senior at LSU, graduated 5 months later and staight to Parris Island.

We went and watched the movie 'Midway' last week. The movie started with events that developed before Pearl Harbor and ended with the Americans winning their first major battle of the Pacific at Midway. The Japanese lost all 4 of their aircraft carriers there and retreated from the area.
Anyway, at the end of the movie, they put on the screen that this movie was made to honor both the American and the Japanese sailors and pilots that fought in the Pacific.
Talk about political correctness......it just didn't set well with me.

We also honor both sides of the American civil war, Union and Confederate, it that wrong too?

I guess not. The world has changed.
I walked through the Gibbon, NE cemetery last year and they have a big Civil War statue there. It is a Civil War soldier. The lettering on it says that it was erected to honor the brave soldiers who fought for the North.
I guess that memorial will be coming down soon.

Last Comment for me on this thread. I'm out.

That's a neat cemetery. Clean and well kept.

There's a similar statue of a Civil War soldier on the lawn of the Seward County courthouse.

No ..the Civil War was brother to brother. Defence of hearth and home. The North was way out of line if you do the reading they had been tightening the screws on the south for a long time. Lincoln had an idea that many in the north supported to free the slaves but it was never completed. He intended to send them all back. Japan was aggression. Trick is Yamamoto knew they were F ing with the sleeping giant. At the time of Pearl they owned much of the Pacific and were expanding. What they really needed were the raw materials to pull it off. Once the giant woke up it was over for them. Just how long it would take was the only question of time. You do know about the 400 class of submarines? Double hull monsters with aircraft hangers built on top. They intended to bomb the western approach locks of the Panama canal. If you don't think that wouldnt have messed things up. This subject can go on and on for many pages.
