Texas Size Groundhog

I believe that they used the same thing to dig the "Chunnel" under the English Channel. They drove it up and out at the end.

I wonder what IDIOT dreamed this up.Talk about a waste of money. I lived in east Dallas for 32 years. The only place it ever flooded was around Whiterock Lake. And that was because the idiots allowed them to block the creeks from draining.Maybe they will build another butt ugly bridge.Leave it to Dallas to waste money. Like they did with the Whiterock park improvement section. That was washed away the next heavy rain.
Glad I am out of that town.

They had a huge tunnel borrer in Seattle for new freeway. The first thing it did was break down and parts took about 6 months to get. I believe they took it apart when it was done. typical government program, cost a lot more than expected

Dallas just doesn't want to be outdone by Ft Worth!

Look up "Trinity River Vision Project"

Started a few years ago in the name of flood control. Grossly underbid, total pork barrel project intended entirely for creating high end real estate.

The project is half finished, groveling for money. All the money suppliers are getting wise to it, so get it from the tax payers. The same tax payers that 99% will never be able to go to or be welcome to that area of town.

So far the end numbers are $1 billion and up!

And I drive around the same pot holes and through the same non functioning signal lights daily...

Saw one on a program like mega machine on the history channel years ago. Pretty sure it was on a project somewhere in Europe. I am also fairly certain they used it to bore a tunnel at an angle to the project tunnel and it was still there. Hard to imagine it costs more to retrieve than what its worth !

Years ago, when the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) was being designed, I had a cousin who was married to one of the lead architects for the project. (DART is the above and below ground subway system for Dallas, Texas) At that time, he told me that the underground boring machine was, when the tunnels were completed, going to dig itself into a a hole and was going to stay there. So this is not something new.

When did Dart go underground. I left in 2008 don't racall anything about it. Of course Dallas has done some stupid things in the past. Like the great wall at Whiterock lake.It is on the right side of the spill way. Nothing on the left side. So the flood waters come through on the left side. Then go around the wall on the right and flood the land it was supposed to protect.
