Rick I could not help notice the mini-excavator in your shed in your Trailer Ramp Post below.

1. Regarding ramps, I purchased an aluminum set from Landsport. Check out their website, it might give you some ideas or even guidance. I could not lift my steel ramps anymore. So much is determined by what you want to load.

2. What is the mini-excavator you have? I am thinking about getting a JD 35G with a long arm, thumb, and no cab. I need to rebuild my 6 ft culvert ends not to mention a number of other projects. Can you give me any things to consider when buying a mini-excavator?

Anyone else with comments?

Thanks.

Paul

Paul, that doesn't sound like enough work to justify owning a mini trackhoe. A rental on occasions would make more sense to me.
I bought a rental unit when I was contracting. It was a Kubota KX41-III. It was less than a year old and all the rental I and others paid in came off the selling price, plus carried remainder of warranty.
The most important thing to look for when buying a used unit is the condition of the rubber tracks. They weather check like tires and if it has been used as a dozer a lot you need to look closely at the drive lugs imbedded in the tracks. They can start to crack out and the internal steel cords can start pulling out and breaking. Also check the front idlers for bearing ware.
I should sell mine for what little I use it anymore since retirement, but it is real handy to have around.-----------------------------Loren

I really cant help you much I just wanted one for around the farm found that one with 1800 hrs and good tracks .no more than I use it ill most likely wear out first.but when you need one its setting there ready to go.

My neighbor the plumber has a small kubota that the tracks slide in and out. Real handy for doing sewer repair in small areas.

Thanks everyone for your comments. Ya, I have struggled with Rent, Lease, and buy, new or used.
