Marvel Schebler carbs

We've got a Ford forklift at our rail road museum that needs the carb rebuilt. I've done Zeniths and IH carbs but don't have any tractors with the MS carb. Is there anything different about rebuilding these carbs compared to any of the others of that time period?

No, they are very basic and simple.

You can sometimes get by with easing it apart, cleaning it up, without buying a kit.

Lots of online info available for them.

My wife has taken many of em apart and cleaned em up good. Then just put em back together. Worked great. Out of all the tractors we have bought not running we have only had to buy 2 carb kits. Those carbs were missing parts.....

Agree.

If I can refurbish one, then anyone can.

There is a manual for MS carbs at fergusontractors dot org, resources, tech articles, other tech articles, carb info

Manual probably available on others sites also

Some good advice in the replies so far. Don't get too aggressive or worry about removing any brass jets, nozzles, etc. Well, not for the first time through anyways. That sometimes opens up another can of worms (and unfortunately, a search for another carb). Air leakage through the throttle shaft packing can sometimes be an issue but it's not tough to deal with. There was a recent post about that and the replies listed all the different ways that YT'ers deal with it.

You guys all talk about how easy they are to work on, and I agree, but calling them simple takes it a bit too far. If you take the time to understand exactly how a carburetor works, you will then realize that ALL carburetors are very complex and precise.

Yes the M/S carbs are as simple or maybe even easier to rebuild then the Zenith carbs are. Plus there is basically 4 sizes of the M/S carbs. Small medium large and extra large. O'Reilly's sell the Walker brand kits and there are 2 kits. One fits the small and medium and the other the larger ones and cost around $20
