Costco hearing aides

I thought some might want to hear my experience with my new Costco hearing aids, the Kirkland 9.0. They are great. I can now hear and understand what people are saying. I can even ride in the back seat and hear what people are saying in the front seat. I use to watch tv with the volume at 27 and not hear and understand some of the words. Now i can go as low as 12 on the tv volume.I can hear my turn signals in the truck now. lol It took 3 visits to costco. One for the hearing test, you then get to try a demo pair tuned for you. Then if you decide to purchase they will order them. Then you set up and appointment to get them fitted and tuned and instructed how to use and care for them. Then the follow up visit to see if you need changes. Also they will set your smart phone up to turn the volume up and down if you like or you can do that on the buttons on the side of the hearing aids. These will bluetooth from the phone to the hearing aids. You can answer your phone through the hearing aids by pushing a button on the hearing aids, or by selecting it on your phone. Its really simple. You hear your phone through both ears. Most hearing aids are only one ear. You can stream video or music through these hearing aids. You can pair them with your smart tv and hear your tv through them. It is like a Bose sound system in your ears. I don't even know im wearing them except for the fact i can hear. I wasnt going to pay $7 to $9 thousand for ones that wouldnt do what these will do better. I paid $1500 for the pair. They have a 6 month moeny back return policy. And a 3 year warranty, but for what i hear they will keep them running for you longer than that. They show you how to care for them and all the ins and outs. If you have a problem with them they will fix them. I dont know why i waited so long.Have you ever had to ask people to repeat what they said? I am a happy camper. Its Not that big of a deal to get and wear them. It is worth every penny. That is my experience with them and thought i would share my story.

I'm in the market and have heard nothing but good reports on the Costco aids and service.

Unfortunately, there are no Costco outlets in Maine. Nearest is about 300 miles one way.

My MIL got her's through Costco and is very happy with them. I was impressed with how Costco worked for my MIL.

Were they fitted by an audiologist? Are they tuned to yur personal hearing loss? I use a BEAN that is just an amplifier. It helps me for about $300.

Yes and yes.

My last (have had several different ones over the years) Audiologist tested me and found my hearing was -90 dB @ 2k-4k.....(by chance the range of the normal FEMALE voice 😎). Her aids cost me around $5k and had all the bells and whistles. I have a drawer full of the things and never use them, those included.

Funny about audio testing is that they test you before the aids, but you don't get sent back into the "chamber" with your new whiz bang gadgets that love to pick up wind and background noise, but not normal conversations which is why you want them in the first place......regardless of all the advertising claims. Waste of money for me besides the nuisance of keeping up with them, batteries, hygiene, ear tickling, wind noise, keeping them dry, etc., etc. 😡

Bought a hearing aid at Harbor Freight with the 20% off coupon it was a little over $10 plus got a free flashlight too.Has a volume control works pretty well for things like watching TV
and talking on the phone also came with 2 extra batteries.Might splurge and and get one for the other ear too. With what I do about 95% of the time it doesn't matter if I can hear real
well or not.

I bought the best Phonak pair 2 years ago from Costco, they work OK, still can't understand my wife! I think the Kirkland ones you got are probably the same for a lot less money, but my wife didn't want me to skimp, so what can I say! I do hear the TV and turn signals better, but I also hear a lot of background noise that I don't want. They were fitted and tuned by an Audiologist to my hearing loss.

I was forced to get hearing aids because I failed my DOT physical so I went to sams club.

The hearing test and tuning of the hearing aids to my level of hearing was all done by a doctor. That surprised me as I figured a place like sams would just have some kid that was stocking shelves yesterday working in the hearing department today.

Price; warranty and quality of the hearing aids was similar to Costco.

I might point out that if any of ya'll are members of the American Legion, the Legion has a discount on hearing aids the almost cuts the price in half with participating providers.

My wife's pair was some $7400 at Miracle Ear. The AL discount brought it down to $4400.

I'll get mine free from the VA if I need them. According to my last test last summer, my hearing hasn't changed in 16 years. I've lost a bit in the higher frequencies, but still OK for normal conversation.

Like Goose , I Got Mine Thru The Va , 2000.00 $ !!unit , I Had To Pay 50.00$ because Audio is kind of a off shot of the Va, So Goose make sure you read the letter they send you , some where on it will tell what you have to pay , mine was clear at the top, And I did not see any thing about paying the 50 Bucks , but all in all they are really nice

35 years or so I went to bell tone and flunked there hearing test. got me a pair of them. I think they were 1200 bucks but companies ins paid for them. about 15 years ago I decided to go to a specialist for my ears. after the test the doctor said it was due to a medical problem my hearing was bad. He put tubes in my ears and boy that opened up a world of noise. no more aids until 5 years ago I got some at the va. although those hearing aid places I think do a good job of providing aids I don't think they are specialist in the ears and I think there priority first is selling aids.. everyone does what they want to but times has changed. lot more doctors in specialists field now. I will always go to a specialists first to verify my problem. this has been my experience.

John in la, I'm guessing this was pre-2013? There are ways around the rule and/or exemptions today that will allow a hearing-impaired person to obtain a CDL. I'm not for sure they didn't abandon the hearing requirement nowadays, as when I first got my CDL 5 years ago, I had to endure the "forced whisper" test. DOT physicals since then did not include that part.

Costco X 2. I'm on my 2nd set of theirs. They work great for me. Mine were $1600 or so.
Tested and fitted by and audiologist. They are limited by law what they can do for you.
Can't sell you a hearing aid if you don't need it. Can't even clean your ears,
so I go to the Walk-in Clinic and get my ears washed before I get them tested
(I have a wax build up problem).
It's time for me to get mine follow-up checked. Thanks for the reminder!!

I also got Hearing Aids from Costco. A friend paid 9,000 dollars for his and he still can't hear anything. Mine cost 1700 dollars and with the remote and hard inserts it came to 2000 dollars .They work real good. My big complaint is the stupid batteries don't last very long. About a week is all you get. I have a Timex watch that cost 6 bucks 3 years ago and it is still running on the same battery. Why ? The other gripe is the itching I get in my ears a lot. I some times get mad and yank them out and stick them in my pocket. So other than that they are great. Oh also Costco cleans them out about every Month or so for free. .The Old Scovy.

The solution for the itching is to put Cortizone 10 in your ear. Don't know if it works for everyone, but it works for me. I have Miracle Ear, paid $4600, I still can't understand everyone. They do take care of you, with proper fitting and etc. Dennis

Read all the replies below ,am happy most of you benefit from whatever you are using .my question is does anyone have tinnitus (ringing in the ears)and can even use hearing aids?

I have Tinnitus (many years of being too lazy to put on Muffs or plugs for 'just one cut') in the carpentry racket for 40 years. Some days not too bad, but ALWAYS there. Don't know about aids, but that may come.

Yes, they are tuned for me.Question from above.
I didnt want to spend $7000 for someone to have a retirement cabin on the lake.
I told them when i first made the appointment that i would be a very hard sell. Boy they sold me. I even asked questions to some customers that were buying battery's how they like them. They said it will change your world and it sure did so far. The service is excellent. I was so convinced that i drove 3 hours to get them. My son lives there anyway so i get to stay and see my grandson too.

I have tinnitus..Have had it for 15 years or more. The odd thing is I just had my hearing checked a month ago and my hearing is on the high end of normal except for the high frequencies. Doc said I would notice very little difference with hearing aids. Said I don't need them.

My wife just got hearing aids about a month ago. Her hearing has been deteriorating noticeaby over the last year. She's quite happy with hers.

Local funeral homes accumulate a boxes full of hearing aids donated by family....so I've been told. That will be my first stop when only sign language works.

Yep, got it bad from driving open tractors, combines, running chainsaws, nail guns, shooting, running my sawmill and who knows what.
Docs tell me it will just get worse.
Gonna try hearing aids soon.

Like most here, a lifetime (72yrs) of operating machinery and tools has had an effect. About three years ago I went to an audiologist that fitted me and tuned up a $7,800 pair of aids with a 45 day trial period. After 2 weeks I ordered a $1,400 pair of MDHearing aids on line. They both worked equally well; no difference at all in hearing ability or sound quality. Returned the high priced pair.
