I saw a D15 series II for sale,in the add he said it want go in gear. What would keep it from going in gear other than the clutch out?

A few things can causes that. I have seen a transmission rusted up form sitting a long time and not being able to shift it into any gears. Or stuck in a gear and shiftier in neutral or broken shiftier it self. Or having enough water in the transmission that it has frozen up and is full of ice

He said the motor runs good, but you can not put it in gear.

As I said one of what I listed or maybe a case of a stuck clutch but with out more info hard to make an educated guess as to what is wrong. Ask if you can if it can be put in gear with out it running and if when running if you try to put it in gear if the gears grind

If that motor runs good, I may offer him $800 for the tractor. And put that motor in another D15 that has a bad motor. I do not think that tractor is worth $1000 for parts.

That would depend on why it does not go into gear and what the tires look like. It if easy to have $1000 just in tires now days

Where is this tractor at, I would love to get my hands on a D 15 series II especially if it is factory 3ph. A good running one around here will sell for about $3500 all day long.
