Ford 801 powermaster help

Hello i am a new member and first time tractor owner. I'm in brooksville florida. I am asking for help, advice or general information on the 801 powermaster tractors. I dont know nothing about the tractor not even exactly sure what it is.. so any identification tips would be appreciated. The tractor is non running and needs repaired so any recomendations were used or new parts can purchased. Also if anyone has any sort of manuals or diagrams for this model tractor or ideas where these can be purchased. I'm in over my head taking on a non ruining project tractor so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Congratulations on a great little tractor. First thing is to order a set of books. Owners/users manual;service manual;parts manual. Then READ them. This site sells manuals..Parts too_Other places as well sells them. Even your Ford tractor dealer can get them.the Ford Forum is a great place to 'camp'. Just ask away,we are here for you. Steve.

Yea bud thanks.. That's all great ideas but I don't know the year or model of the tractor and not the slightest clue or way of knowing . what manuals do I even order? And any recomendations who would be the cheapest pricing. Sorry but i may have overpaid and so far all information that was given to me doesn't seem to match up and defintly thinking the item may have been staged in photos for sale given the fact motor had no oil and was full of fuel nd discovering more and more repairs repairs as I get further into it

Congrats on the new-to-you tractor. Great machine!
Lots of great info including ID and history [b:8b3320cdaa]here.[/b:8b3320cdaa]

Slim 801, the advice that Delta red gave you is exactly right! you should have at least tried to order a manual before discounting his advice because 801 is all you need to know. Like everything else in the world they didn't publish different manuals for every variant.

Slim801, I'm also an owner of a Ford 801 series powermaster and live in Brooksville Fl. Welcome to
the site, a great site with lots og good information.

Slim,I gave you an honest answer.A sarcastic comeback is not appreciated. Not a way to build goodwill or get further answers to future questions. An 801 is an 801.Made during the late 1950s. Yes,there are several variations, but it is still an 801. The I&T service manual will cover all of the hundred series. The Owners manual may as well.BTW,I own an 8N and a 901(960) and a 'whole bunch' of red ones and a couple greens.Be careful with the snarfy comments.

801 is the series and there is a number of models in the series.
841 which has a 4 speed and no live PTO
851 which has a 5 speed and non live PTO
861 which is a 5 speed with live PTO/2 stage clutch
871 which is a SOS and the 881 which is also SOS

I just went through this last week for a buddy and the guys here solved our mystery once we found the stamped numbers on the tractor.

Look at the flat spot behind the starter for three lines of numbers that have been hand stamped there. Those can be translated into model, build, date, and serial. I will try to post a couple of photos.

Those photos are for the 65 and later thousand series, but the info is basically the same.
The 800-801 series have two lines of numbers on the left side behind the starter next to the battery box
One will be the serial number, the other will be the model number.
List those and we'll be able to help figure out what you have.
If it's a diesel those numbers have probably br eaten away by battery acid.
A photo of the tractor would also help.

Ok update been doing research and
uncovering her identity. So the serial
number and model number behind starter
are unreadable maybe one a few numbers
available but I have discovered clues..
Power steering 5 speed transmission
adjustable front thing... It is a diesel
tractor and I think there is a 861stamped
in the rear end .. So im assuming a late
50s 801 series 861-d tractor.. Just not
sure of any clues that may help to put a
age on this old girl.. Thanks everyone
for help and input i eagerly want a
repair Manuel to start digging in but I
don't want to prefer the wrong one. Below
a photo that was taken on my way home..
We were parked in the parking lot which
was marked " tractor trailer parking
only" lol I still wouldn't mind if anyone
had a recomendation of some who could
come see the tractor first hand and guve
me a written appraisel. Thanks

Apologies sir I assumed manuals were specific per model but again im new..for example I Didn't want to order say a prizm car Manuel when I drive a Prius but I understand now that 701 covers all. But I wasn't even sure that it was a 801 it could be a john deere with a 801 hood and a cpln stickers lol just me being frugile with my money not wanting to waste money on manuals I don't need

But thank you.

Ok with that info it's a 851 or 861 diesel with power steering
Built between 1957 and 1962.
Any service manual for a 801 series will work for your tractor.

Slim, Since your 801 is non running you would be wise to check for serious engine which may have sidelined her by removing the oil pan prior purchasing any parts. I hope that you made it home with your 801. We here at YT are always concerned with how people transport their tractors. Your 801 is way too heavy for your trailer, and it is lifting the back of your truck instead of putting a good amount of down pressure on it. The rearward weight bias of your load on the trailer will make it a "tail trying to wag the dog" and would quickly put you out of control if you were to make anything like an abrupt lane change.

Yes thank you for your concerns and help . But hauling junk moving trailers and transport garbage thats what this young redneck southern boy has been doing for almost ten years now. I love hearing you ain't gonna fit that or asking if im coming back tmrw lmao it's getting done today in one trip. or pulling up in the evening time and jamming out three hours of work in 30 mins. I'll give anyone a run for your money even those rich guys with brand new trucks and trailers lol my three dollar thrift store setup matched with my knowledge will run with the best! Bet that$$ made a few dollars betting homeowners that it fit and were notcoming back tmrw its all coming with us right now job is getting competed today! so hold my beer and watch this. I know all about ovsized loads and playing Tetris to load any trailer to the max!! and uneven weight distribution vehicle rollovers homemade trailers no trailer brakes man I can't even remeber how manybdam trailers iv been trough. IV gotten really lucky and of course a few horror stories manure happens like racing your gonna crash lol. but send it push it the limit do 70mph on the interstate.. if I had photos you wouldn't beleive some of the stuff I got away with.. I have loads so big we we scraping streetlights, folded trailer hitches and crumbled. A few trailers to the ground with 10 tons of river rock. Made one trailer go from 16ft to 14 ft and shrink two feet. Don't worry I got this! Not my first rodeo but I understand your concern alot of green yuppy trailer drivers out there that don't know anything about pulling a trailer yet alone moving it backwards .i tell you what tho That little trailer right there has had entire cars on it doing 70mph on interstate a 100mile trip no joke lmao. She is tough and we'll worth every penny of the 400$ I paid for her. She has no spare tire yet alone a jack or tire iron ...tires are old dryrotted underinflated tires at best. I don't know if the wheelbarrings have ever been greased lol . trailer tag and lights were lost years ago.. Oh and the licensed driver where on our way to pick him up don't worry about that little guy. Tell you what I got a hustlers mindset wit a git r done attitude 100% we get stuff done down here beleive that!! Getting pulled home by the v6 chevy truck sitting in the tractor trailer parking lot! Get you some of that !!! Lmao woooooooo!!!!!! Yea. Im crazy but it keeps me from going insane. So if you see me on the highway or I drive past you just mind your own and stay in your lane please. Cracks me up when im on the motorcycle and people wanna brake check you like there some kind of super trooper or Batman. country boys can survive God bless merica
