New to me '15 F-250. I occasionally hear a little chirpy-whistling from the radio on AM but this morning I noticed it comes on with the headlights or parking lights. Didn't hear it with the foglamps, they are aftermarket and on an aux. switch. I first thought alternator interference but it did not change with the engine speed. Came on and off with the headlight switch. Any thoughts as to what it could be? I'm stumped. How can DC cause radio noise.

The rotating field in the alternator of late-model vehicles is fed with a a "PWM" (Pulse Width Modulated) current by the 'puter to control charging rate.

It's possible that's what you are hearing under certain electrical loads.

so that's why my volt gauge can be all over the place depending on load , thanks for the info I guess jump starting other vehicles has higher risk of getting the alternator and puter

Some use the audio system to make the various reminder tones, fasten seat belt, key in ignition, turn off the lights, etc.

May be something bleeding through from that.

Don't know about the '15, but a few years back the windshield seal on the right side would leak water down on a control module behind the right kick panel, cause all sorts of weird electrical gremlins.

Not sure if LED or Hals. Two small lamps about 2 1/2" with LED halo as running lights under a large gray plastic lens. None of the other I see on the road look like these. Heater fan was running too but didn't cause the noise.
