The Peoples Tree just prior to cutting & loading for the trip to our Capitol. Coming out of a National Forest in New Mexico, this is a 60 ft blue spruce .It is supposed to be in San Antonio today for viewing and moves on for many more stops along the way ranging from LA, TN, to VA. Not able to identify the loading cranes but the transport tractor is a new heavy hauler Kenworth W 990 decked out in special graphics

It is a beauty. Hope they wrap it up so the wind of driving doesn't dry it out. Wind burn. A mistake so many people make. What is really funny is down in Florida all tree stands are in fully enclosed tents and all of the trees are standing in buckets of water. Some even have misting systems spraying on them. Keeps the trees from turning into a tinder box with no needles. The tree for Radio City around 1986 or 87 came from Ringoes ,NJ just about two miles from my folks. The little house is going to pot but it was right along Rt.31. I think the stump finnaly rotted away. Was in the front of this little house.

The one they haul from the State of Washington,to the east coast are usually haulded in a refer trailer, so they can control the temp
 
So really we need to waste money on a 60 ft tree for the capitol? I know it has been done for decades. Just don't see the need for such waste of our money when a 6or 8 footer would accomplish the same thing.
 
With all the whining and complaining about the government waste I would not have really thought most of you guys would be so frivolous with your money. After all it is your money you sent in to pay Taxes. Then hauling it from NM to CA then to DC. Sounds like the long way around the barn to me. I doubt they are hauling it for free or donating the freight to do it.
