The loader appears home made but looks like the one on an old Oliver my grandpa had years ago

I think it was in production. There is a photo that appeared here maybe 7 or so years ago with more data. Jim

Not homemade, but don't know the brand. There are a few around here, mostly on JD A's and B's.

jon f mn is correct, it is not home made , I knew of one mounted on a WD 45 Allis Chalmers that a friend once owned.

Those were somebodys idea of a low-pro loader. You could load a spreader under a shed roof,or feed out in a low ceiling barn.I have seen some in the bushes, but all were retired and I never saw one in action.

Patents for front loader designs were very much in effect and very much enforced back then. The simple design that is standard today was owned by some such company, and you either had to pay them royalties to use it, or defend yourself against patent infringement lawsuits in court.

Each loader manufacturer had to come up with their own unique design for lifting the booms that didn't infringe on anyone else's patents. That made for some crazy contraptions at the time, and some crazy contrived sales pitches about how Brand X's loader was better due to some mechanical advantage that the contraption provided.

Neighbor had one on a Farmall H when I was a kid. Worked really well, lots better than a five tine fork. Templeton was the name I think.
