JD 6620 combine slow hydro problem solved

I posted a week or so ago about my John Deere 6620 sidehill combine seemingly slowing down and not reaching the maximum mph in each gear. I had mentioned that it seemed like the reverse side of the hydro worked at a normal mph. What I found was the very end of the cable connecting the hydro cab lever and the hydro itself had failed. The last 5 or 6 inches of the cable is metal and had loosened from the flexible part of the cable. So when you pushed the lever forward to move faster the cable would push the linkage at the hydro a small amount then would just make a big kink (since it wasn't supported) in the inner cable not pushing the linkage all of the way. In reverse it was pulling the cable and would move the linkage the full extent. There was no chance for a kink since it was pulling on the cable. The repair was to get some automotive hose, slit it open, fit it over the flexible cable and the metal end, and clamp down with small hose clamps. The end of the cable is now supported and the inner cable cannot flex therefore pushing the inner cable all of the way. Before next season I will replace the entire cable.
