I took my trailer towards Syracuse to pick up a Farmall Regular, whose owner had lost the storage for it. when I got loaded, I noticed a missed call on my phone. my former herdsman from when we milked cows had called. I called him back and he asked if I had the tractor loaded yet. HUH? I'm 70 miles away from home, and out of sight from the interstate. turns out his nephew had gone by the field where the Regular was, with a tractor and grain cart, saw my DOT sign on the pickup, and knew who it was, and called his uncle. I had seen a CIH 6130 combine go by when I arrived, but the nephew must have gone by when the winch was making noise, and I never noticed.

Sir, please post photos of your GCVW ratings stickers for both truck and trailer and then step away from your truck.

I am in the same situation. My son has 14 feed truck drivers driving around parts of northwest Iowa. I can not go anywhere without being seen and reported.

I do have to laugh...I have seen better tie down jobs and have personally hauled worse. But I know better now (?). Fenders look like they are almost rubbing the tires. Adding the winch cable to the front end to compensate for the ratchet strap is a nice touch. Personally, I WOULD have gone chains on four corners but that is me today...not me from years ago. All I would say is I hope it got home safe, that you had a good day and that, if I passed you on the highway, I would make sure I stayed well in front of you. Nice tractor...I like the old Regulars.

I pull my DOT magnetic signs off when I am on personal business......keeps my personal business personal LOL!

(quoted from post at 19:54:46 11/07/19) I kinda like the wrap around the frame with the ratchet strap

Bud, you can see that where he "wrapped around the frame" is where the back of the motor is fastened to the frame, so he is onto a very solid hook point on the tractor. He probably took a wrap over the strap hook to insure that it can't jump off in a wreck if you were to cut in too close on him when passing.

tires are ON the fenders. this trailer is built with drive over fenders, and the whole deck tilts. I had it made this way just for situations like hauling wide dead Regulars. most tilt trailers are 78-82" wide. this one is 102" wide. there were 2 straps (3333# WLL each) plus the winch on the front. grade 70 chain on the back.
the winch is a 12v Ramsey from Northern. I mounted it on an 8" channel and welded grab hooks on the corners so I can use short chains thru the front stake pockets to pull against while loading, and take it off when I don't need it.
I'm glad I pushed to get the tractor Wednesday. there was light snow Thursday evening and the salt trucks have been out all night. that rig will never see salt if I can help it. I bought both brand new, the truck in 2018 and the trailer this year.
