This D-200 was prepared for the SEMA convention out west. Is a factory rebuild of 1968 model, except in the rebuild they installed a 5.9 Cummins diesel engine wth 6 speed manual. A one production unit for marketing Ram trucks probably. May have bigger wheels than the original D-200.

For a person like me who always worked on Dodge trucks. Really need to say they where made cheap back in those years and any thing improvements where needed. Like that cummings engine and transmission that is really an up grade for that old truck. I wonder if they put some better upholstery in it than just the basic strip looking stuff that was found in the cab back in those years. great job.

ld enough to not be a Fiat-Peugeot!

My mom used to have a ?68 D200. She purchased it for $500 about 15 years ago on a farm sale from the original owner. After the ?sold ? gavel went down, the seller came out of the barn with the original tail gate. When the guy originally purchased the truck new,he took the tail gate off and never used it. He took it out of his barn, installed it on the truck, and my mom drove it home. I sold her truck about five years ago for $750. The seller tried to talk me down, but when I mentioned the tail gate was easily worth that (to the right person), he agreed. My mom was bragging about ?making money ? on that truck to her quilting group for years.

68 in my opinion was a tough old beast, think Forest Service. In 72 I think they got rid of about 500 lbs. and degraded the body to IHC quality control. If the doors closed it was good enough. Drove 63, 72, 83, all with the leaning tower of power, except for later transplant in 83 with 78 440 out of Chrysler complete with torque flight. Nothing like barking tires at 75 plus coming out of passing gear with dual glass packs talking and Thermoquad saying more gas.

I had a 69 Dodge 318 auto no power anything LOL. They called it OLE Bully everytime I started it the bull named Wormy would start snorting LOL

Nice. I always liked that style of Dodge truck. I wonder if it says Dodge on the tailgate like the original ones did (instead of Ram).

What is "passing gear"?

(quoted from post at 10:07:28 11/07/19) Passing gear was basically second gear on the old three speed automatics. When you showered down on it, it would kick down to second gear for better acceleration
Pete

Yeah, I know. I've had people tell me that "passing gear" was a separate gear only accessible by flooring the accelerator pedal. I've never "showered down" on one before though.

Was wondering if Leroy was one of them.
