ford Jubilee

I am trying to bring back to life a gas powered jubilee that has not run in about 10 years. whats the best way to clean out the fuel tank, or should I just order a new one. thanks

I would use a temporary tank to get it running and see if it's going
to live up to expectations before deciding to buy one or clean one.

Are you doing a complete restoration or making a working tractor?
Once it's running, if you're making a working tractor, I'd buy new.
They are not exactly like the originals, so if you're doing a restore,
then I would consider having it boiled out at a local radiator shop.
A friend of mine had his Farmall M tank boiled/cleaned and sealed.
It was about $400. New Jubilee tank is [b:ac5d060274]$200[/b:ac5d060274] from our hosts.

I fought mine and finally bought a new one from YT. Cost a little over $200. My tank had no rust. The inside coating was flaking off. It was a powder that looked like you had sanded gray primer.

I looked what it would costs to coat it with something like red seal and decided to just buy a new one.

If you take your tank, make a heat sheild to deflect the heat from manifold and radiator from getting to the tank. On a very hot day, I think my gas was boiling. I tried using a clear inline gas filter. When gas reached about 155 degrees, you could see an air bubble form inside the filter, gas stopped flowing and in about 30 seconds carb ran out of gas.

Wait for gas to cool down, vapor lock went away and fuel returned to carb. That was the final straw, I ordered a new one. Tired of fighting it.

Not doing a full restoration, just trying to make it a running tractor, the engine does spin freely. Based on comments its looks as if I will be better off starting with a new tank. Thanks

depends on what's in the tank and how hard you want to work at cleaning it. if it was lined and the liner is coming off get a new one. I got one from YT and had no problems
