why don't you just fix what you have , post a pic of the break , you should be able to duplicate it

Looks much like the engine oil filter canister on that vintage Massey Harris. Maybe
wouldn't take the pressure?

Ben

That is just a standard motor oil filter used on all cars and trucke in the 40's and some in the 30's and 50's. Most popular motor oil filter ever made. And low pressure filter as engines then were low oil pressure engines. It is NOT a hydrolic filter.

that filter comes from the steering side of the cylinder , it has a piece of metal that goes straight down into it , once you open it the filter has a tab on it like a coke can , that slides up off the pipe well i broke the brass pipe all the way down at the bottom there is no way to fix it the right way at least not by my experience.

On another web site an owner was faced with a similar problem with a NLA canister filter and a poster suggested the following as a good solution:

"Surplus center has a nice selection of Suction filters from 9 to 32 gpm. Here's one example:
https://www.surpluscenter.com/Hydraulics/Hydraulic-Filters/Filter-Assemblies/1-1-4-NPT-25-GPM-Zinga-Suction-Filter-9-4544.axd
For $45 plus some hose barb fittings....I'd say that would be a good upgrade. But then I hate "canister" filters."

You can go to a farm supply store and buy
a 3/4 fuel filter base. A oil filter from
a case backhoe with a cummins engine will
fit it. Less than $20. I'm using one on my
D17 puller. If you are intrested I'll look
tomorrow for filter no. Tx. Me 618 599

Also Buick, Oldsmobil and Cadilac. All of the above we had used that same filter. 48 & 50 Buick, 48 Olds, 49 Caddy and 49 Chevy truck.

There must be some old guy or little shop near you that can fix things?

NOT quite sure exactly what you did, but there's, lots of us out here that could repair it better than new in not much more time than it took to to take a photo and post your woes here.

they may use the same filter but the canister is what broke, bob has me thinking about jb welding it or a sticking a stick welder 90.10 down there .

Finf a junk yard that has some 40's vehicals and get a good one but that unit would not be rated to stand even 50 pounds of pressure. Id would never have been used from a factory for any hydrolic use.
