Air seat woes

I have 7740 Ford with Grammer air seat. It worked fine all year, but has recently gone flat. When I lift the lever it doesn't do anything, doesn't even make that pffft sound that you get when the air compressor is running. Anyone got any ideas? I don't know much about air seats. I lifted the seat up and put some 2x4's under it to get by for now.

Don't condemn the seat unless you know that it has pressure and doesn't go up. Don't condemn the compressor until you know that it has voltage to it and doesn't pump.

+1 on checking the wiring as the seat moving and/or things being crammed (deliberately or accidentally) can break a crimp connection easily. BTDT

Then fuse and if so, look for the reason.....may be contamination at the fuses contact area. Heat builds up when there is corrosion and heat melts the fusing element.

I think those bags are made of Neoprene and they are pretty resistant to cracking like natural rubber cracks with age. However, if you know the pump is pumping, and you haven't blown a tube loose, or rubbed a hole in one by the seat's movement, then you may have a crack in your air bag. The bag seals seem to be pretty bullet proof.

Last, I find that they are sensitive to cold temperatures. Where one holds pressure in the summer, it won't in the winter if the tractor sits for awhile unused, seat will settle down. Haven't figured out the smoking gun on that as yet due to the difficulty in trouble shooting the suspect components under the seat. I have even removed mine (exiting through the rear window of the cab....working alone is a neat trick to pull off) and had it on the work bench and couldn't find anything leaking. Course, considering the volume of air in the bag, even a minute leak over a week or so could deplete the contents.
