I have one I had to use for a winter. I used it in a 6 foot stock tank and it worked really well. How much propane it used is kinda hard to answer. I bought a 100 lb portable propane tank and that would last give or take a couple weeks. Just depended on how cold it got. It was a normal Kansas winter so it wasn't colder or warmer than usual. I bought a second tank to switch them out when one got empty. I would guess from some of the pictures you posted last winter that you get colder weather than I do. Overall if possible run electricity. It'll run out of propane on the coldest morning possible.

We haven?t had a good 40 below zero winter in awhile so it could be this one . Where the cattle are going there isn?t electricity so i may just be chopping ice

Sv: I have one of those that never has been in water. I used them in pastures for years. I bought the double tank regulator that will switch tanks when the one is empty. Just like used on cook stoves. IF normal is daily highs in the 20s and nightly lows in the single digits then your looking at about a 100 LBS tank every 7-10 days. I have my own 100 lbs. tanks and fill them off one of my 1000 gallon tanks. A 100 lbs. tank holds right under 24 gallon. Getting them filled in town cost $60. I can fill them at home for around $27 or half price of town.

I would sell the one I have. I no longer need them for any of my current pastures. I would take $250 for mine but I have no idea of what freight would be.

I've got one dad used as a kid. No idea how much gas it used. You can figure the BTU's it burns per hour and divide the BTU's in a gallon of propane by that for a worst case scenario. Mine would be for sale too. SE Iowa.

The one I have doesn't use power. Thats the point of the LP. Pilot light and a tank of propane are all you need.
