After Case and International became CaseIh, was the new product line primarily made up of Case products/engineering or primarily International products/engineering, or some mix of both? I'm talking primarily about the models developed after the merger/buyout such as the Magnum and Maxxum line of tractors, not the ones that were simply re-badged. In other words, did the design of these tractors and other equipment flow primarily from Case or from International?

Not sure but I think they leaned more towards the Case side. Both the Magnum and the Maxum were very good tractors and I am a Deere person. Tom

It was a mix right after the merger.

Row crop and 4WD tractors - All red-and-black painted Case.
Utility tractors - Both, actually a mix of David Brown (94 series) and Doncaster IH Utilities (85 series).
Harvesting equipment like haybines, balers, choppers, etc., remained built by New Idea for a couple of years, then switched over to Hesston.
Combines were IH, at first with IH engines just to meet demand, but quickly converted over to Cummins.

The original Magnum is what the next generation of the 88 series from IH would have been. Original Maxxums are a Case/David Brown design.

I believe CaseIH is still manufacturing tractors heavily based off the Doncaster Utility tractors.

The two things I remember about the buyout..er...I mean merger was that the local news media called my local IH dealer and told them about it before Case/IH told them about it. Also, the local Case dealership, the oldest in my state at the time, had their dealership taken away from them because the Local IH dealership was bigger and too close to them.

While I had a CaseIH 5140 Maxxum tractor I have to say the only thing IH was the colour. Front axle castings were Case, and so was the cab. Smooth running CDI 6 cylinder, made this a truly beautiful tractor. The next generation cab was a step in the right direction. Getting rid of those overhead controls, improved visibility. Probably wasn?t a problem for fellas 5 foot 6 tall, dut I got of sick of trying to peek under that stupid heating-Ac system while using the loader

The engine used at the time of the mash together was a product of Consolidated Diesel and brought about by joint venture between Case and Cummins to build a more efficient engine.
