Ford 641 Transmission is not turning

I had a gear on my 641 brake inside the transmission. So I split the tractor and took the top gear cluster and installed the new gear to replace the bad one. Now when i put it in the transmission is hanging up. should I be able to turn the output shaft after it is installed? Or what could be the cause i reinstalled as i pulled everything out.

Thanks
Spencer

If the wheels are off the ground, it should turn the output shaft. If the tractor is still apart, and lid off, finding the issue will be easier. A tooth or bearing part might be stuck in between the teeth of a different gear. Jim

The tractor is still apart nothing seems to be crossed. should you be able to turn the out put shaft with a pipe wrench?

It should be easy to turn, no pipe wrench needed.

If the top is not back on, it may be locked in 2 gears. Be sure the shift gate is lined up, that should give neutral. You should be able to slide one fork at a time and put it through each gear.

But if it locks, and is not in 2 gears, something is wrong. Much easier to find it now than later. Putting it under power can result in serious and expensive damage.
