To add a bit. When they were doing I-95 a round the mid 70s through
Philadelphia they uncovered a whole mess of trash pits and privy pits from
around revolutionary to later time frame. There were a buch of diggers who got
everything coordinated to dig those pits for one weekend. I have a couple of
the hand blown glob top round bottom bottles from those pits. And we are only
around 300 years old. In Europe you can find stuff thousands of years old.

Back in the late ' 70 's early '80s I ran steel out of Canada to Port Washington on Long Island with
equipment with Henry Hard Ride suspension ( Henderickson Suspension) on both tractor and trailer. The
Cross Bronx was in bad shape then and is still had today, even with total air ride. Still have make an
appointment with the Drill Sergeant to have my fillings replaced.

Friend of mine here in the Catskills turned up some artifacts plowing his field. It was decided it was an ancient campsite. I forget how old they were dated but it was a few thousand years. Not Clovis points but old.

Were hydraulics new back then?we had a D-9 cat
with winch and cable blade lift;I believe it was a
1964 model.

Cat sold cable blades as an option for a long time. Originally they sold tractors and attachments were supplied by an allied producer. I have a 1948 D7 with a hydraulic blade made by Laplant Choate. The blade in the picture could be Bucyrus Erie.
