The local high school shop program entered a contest last spring, and won! Glad to hear in the video that at least some people realize the trades are important. I put the skills I gained in that shop to use daily, and am thankful for my teachers. Different teachers now than when I graduated 27 years ago, but I hear we have some good ones again. My oldest son will be starting welding class soon. A big thank you to Channel-Lock, too!

That's a very good cause!

Too bad other companies can't see the need and spend some of their promotional money on a worthy cause instead of stupid TV commercials.

They have made some loyal customers for life!
 
That?s quite a story, that high school shop really looks comparable to many college trade schools. Well deserved and excellent job to the winners!
 
I'm glad to see that.
They can manufacture stuff anywhere but when it comes to building a new house, remodeling your bathroom, repairing a car or tractor or welding up your baler it has to be done HERE by skilled workers. There will always be a need for the skilled trades here so give the younguns some exposure and experience with things.
I know my shop classes in HS have proved to be invaluable in life.
And Channel Locks still makes some great tools.
Kudos to everyone who joined forces to put this program together.
 
please tell your son to protect his lungs during welding, live on welder for years now each day is struggle to get air sometimes
 
My wife works at a region high school that has 10 or so area high school that send students to them.They have about 200 students in many programs from welding to nursing to wood working and many in between.When some graduate they are able to go into the work force making good money or on to college with some college credits. There is a national event where all states send people to compete and win medals for their schools.We have won gold,silver and bronze at this event which coming from the middle of Maine and going against much larger schools is a big deal for us.I just wish they had those programs when I was in school I might have been a better student!
