Potato Digging

Dug the last of my potato patch today as it was the only harvesting I was able to do. Still too wet to think about crops in the fields. Potatoes
turned out good. Rain, possible frost and snow in the forecast so I figured they were better in the bin than the ground at this point. Normally
I'd wait another week or so.

I see the long range forecast for western Canada looks like a cold and snowy October, I am sure you don?t want to hear that. Meanwhile here in the banana belt, we still have no frost. Soybeans are coming off and wheat is going in, in between rains that is. Corn is way way way behind normal. Nice taters, I like the reds best.

I feel for you guys up in cold country, Had the wettest June on record and the driest September, Already finished 1700 acres af record breaking corn and beans are dry . This next week predictions are 97 deg fh. for all week with no rain so we will work on the beans. Our normal first frost is Oct 22. Middle Tennessee

I've already dug my potatoes a month ago. Good year. My problem, a long handle shovel beats me up. I'll hurt all night. So I dug my potatoes with a loader.

I actually used a hoe to dig mine. I've tried the potato fork but I stab and damage so many that I gave up on it years ago. My brother has a digger they use on theirs and would do mine too but I figure I'll do it by hand as long as my back holds out.
Just above freezing here this morning with raging wind and the air turning white. I think the snow is almost here. Hope we don't get much or the wheat will be flat on the ground.
