This is from the AgTalk..Machinery Talk forum, any body have clue what this is? The guesses so
far have been locomotive key, which I took to be steam locomotive. Also utility or water shut off.
And last some type of wire grabber to stretch wire, which I assumed to mean fence wire.

Might help to see a pic of the lower part swung out from the upper part.

I would say soil test and made so it will only go to correct depth. And possibly to also remove core samples. Could not take a 12" deep sample when sample is supposed to be from only a 6" depth.
