I am trying to replace the adjustable pulley flange on the water pump. I am having trouble separating the hub from the non adjustable pulley flange. Is it threaded together or pressed together....[/i]

Threaded. Threads are usually full of paint and rust and are very hard to adjust. Bad IHC design, although in general I really like IHC tractors.

If like the Ms, there is a set screw that keeps it from moving that must be lostened. Soak it with lots of pb blaster or favorite penatrant.

There are no set screws for the most forward pulley flange. That's where the problem is... I cant get the adjustable flange off without removing the forward flange. I can not find a way to get it off of the hub...??..

Still confusion here. The only "adjustable" flange is the threaded one (toward the radiator). When saying "Forward" do you mean toward radiator or toward the engine? The threaded flange is toward the radiator on the H I'm familiar with. Maybe they are not all the same ???

I think Slater provided the correct information. The flange is pressed on and it has a pin
anchoring it to the hub which has to be driven out. M and H are different animals when it comes to
a water pump. Also, the pin will be driven into the bearing area so it is necessary to remove the
bearings.

My 300U has the same type adjustable pulley. When trying to put a new belt on, I could never get it
broken loose. I heated, hammered, wrenched, etc. never budged.

Problem solved. There is a pin the holds the pulley flange in place. Thanks for the replies.

I was gonna say has to be something to hold it
from turning.
Cat used same design, worked on neighbors early d6
57 model used same idea as ihc, some allis
chalmers had simular idea but was slotted pully
hubs
