Keeps me busy keeping the grain away

You planting wheat per usual? I just talked to the crop insurance agent in the last couple of days on wheat. Right now I am waiting on lime. Sounds like a lot of the local fertilizer outlets are very busy as though others were waiting to find out this year's crop insurance program then made a decision on planting.

No I didn?t double up the rows, he is harvesting a 12 foot swath. At 4 mph , same speed I was doing with my old MF. Dry swathed grain goes through a combine like gas through a funnel. His crop monitor says 48-55 bushel per acre, as he goes across the field. I don?t know how accurate these things are, but it seems to be yielding good.

That is one of the big ones alright. We some of them and the newer S690 models around here. They generally want at least a 30 foot swath to keep them fed. They've had to develop some pretty good choppers to spread the residue 30 feet.

Finished planting the usual amount of wheat Thursday. LOTS of wheat going in around here, as the milk factory/dairies have created so much demand for straw, and, for the first time in about a year, the ground is really dry enough to work most anywhere!
