Thunder And Hail

Guess I should hve known something was in the air today. Humidity was incredible overnight and all day. Finally thunder storm hit
about 9:00 and then hail beating on the roof and windows. The rain just won't quit.I see more on the radar headed North. Almost sure
to be crop damage from this and it was already taking a beating from all the rain.

I was watching the radar and was wandering if that was in your area. Sure don't need that now.Helping our boys combine
barley yesterday and today. Dry yesterday but never did dry today. Very high humidity all day. On Manitoba border east of Yorkton.

Here in western NC we are the opposite, its so dry that seeds won't even sprout and come up. 90 degree temps and no rain for 4+ weeks is taking a toll on things. One area did have rain last week, 2" in less than an hour, 3 days later you couldn't tell that it rained!!

Bummer Sorry to hear you had a visit from the big white combine,, sucks big time,, had my last two years of crops wiped out by it,, even that small stuff you hold will devastate things if there is enough wind and amounts of it, we had four hails last year and two bad ones this year damages in here was in the millions, thousands of roofs, cars and crops wiped out, this year I still had some straw left last year it beat it into the ground

Have a roof guy come look at your roof. Generally, 3/4" hail will damage your roof, especially if there are 2 layers, and insurance should replace it. My whole neighborhood had roofs put on several years ago. The damage appears minor to the untrained eye, but the roof will be significantly aged because of it.

Same here, never even tested the last of the winter wheat... just fired the combine up after lunch and finished the wheat, only had a truck load left to go but had a minor breakdown on the combine the night before. South side of the west end of RMNP

Unless you spend the coin like I did and have a 50 year shingle,, only damage to mine was to the ridge cap,, but the ones I put on cost almost double of a std shingle,, well worth the coin to me as I would have had three replacements by now if I had not gotten the ones I did,, many here with the cheap shingles have to have the sheeting replaced too as it went through it

Its a dark and dismal morning but I had to get out for a look around soon as there was enough light. I guess it could be worse but there is significant hail damage to my standing wheat that was almost ready to thresh. Lots of seed on the ground although the crop is mostly still standing. Canola swaths nearby have all the top pods threshed and shattered but I guess the inside of the swath should be fine. I don't know how many oats will be left in the crop that was still standing. At least Ihope its still standing. At this point just glad I didn't sell all last year's oats as I might need them for feed. Two and three quarter inches in the gauge this morning. Every low spot full of water. If we ever get to combine this fall I think tow ropes will be standard equipment to get through the day.

lift a tab and look for a star shape where the hail hit your shingle. The gravel will start coming off in those spots.

I just picked up an MF8460 (Dom 108 I think) a couple of days ago, so I might be looking for some advise lol.
Still got my 1680 for this year as well, so no pressure to get it working right away.
Hope your harvest is going ok. Looking like its going to be a late one here!

Was the storm wide spread enough that all of your fields have damage or is your land spread enough that some escaped the hail? Sure is a heart breaker to witness if even some fields got hit. Do you have hail insurance?

Sorry to hear of your setback so close to harvest. Do you have crop insurance in Canada , like we have here ? Hang in there. Hope your Oates made it. Enjoyed the pictures.

I've only seen the home farm so far but report from my brother's farm 8 miles West sounds like little if any hail damage. A mile East of my yard there is less damage than at home so I am hoping the farm 5 miles East will be ok. Check tomorrow. Oat field at home is pretty much threshed out but still standing. Good thing I kept back a bin of last year's oats for feed. This will likely only be good to bale. But the water in the fields is just extreme. I took some drone pics to post later. Heres the oats.

Same here maybe, though thankfully we missed most of the weather yesterday, so if the wind keeps at it we may go again tomorrow.
