Michigan bridge crossing number for this year.

Bridge authority put out the total number of tractors that went over the bridge last weekend. 1168. Shy of hoped 1500 but it was windy and spat rain all morning. Saw a ford that didn't cross cause it had a flat. Couple of others had last minute issues. All seemed to go well.

I imagine it's because it is closed to tractor and foot traffic every other day of the year, and at five miles long, it's a great length for either activity (to some folks).

I've crossed the bridge many times, most often in the winter, and it is a spectacular view.

This was the first year I didn't have to stop the tractor at all on the bridge, left the south lot at 9 and got to Little Bear right at 10 AM..

And you would never get me close to it. Cannot do heights and bridges and put them together I would be going nuts. Don't even like seeing pictures of them.

It was the smoothest crossing ever. Only had to stop and shift down once. Don't know why a bunch of guys that can drive a tractor all day in the field and never touch the throttle can't do five miles at a steady speed.

For those that don't know, the Mackinac (pronounced Mack-in-aw) Bridge is a big icon here in Michigan. Most Michiganders simply know it as "the Bridge". It still holds several records in construction. Between the anchorages, it is longer than the Golden Gate. You are actually over water for 5 miles while on the bridge, with 1000 foot ships sailing underneath while you stare down thru the deck grating on the center two lanes. That......and being surrounded by hundreds of tractors. It's a great event. Did it last year on my F-20 !

That is a definate NO. Don't even care to visit the mountain states. Fact here in Ohio there are roads I am not comfortable on.
