90 wt in trans

Just accidentally used the wrong black jug, about 2-3 gallons went into my transmission. How bad? Need to pump out?

Thanks,

Dumbhead

Tractor hydraulic fluid is rated gl-5 that?s why you can?t run just a plain hydraulic oil in a tractor hydraulic system where the hydraulic and transmission are a common sump

90 weight what? If it is GL4 or GL5 90W gear oil it won't hurt a thing. Combo transmission oil is usually a 20W oil and 90W gear oils is around a 30W. I would only be concerned if I had hydraulic clutches or wet brakes that require special friction modifiers in the oil.

In that old a tractor I would Not worry about it. Some of the Case folks actually recommend adding some 90W to the lighter transmission fluids in older tractors that age.----Loren

Just make sure it is not sharing hydraulic cylinders with something that does have wet clutches and wet brakes. If there is the slightest chance that mix could get pumped into something else then change it out now.

I'll tell you what, that pump has never run so smooth since I've owned it. Hope it lasts. I just won't fix that leak for a while and half of it will be gone.

Thanks though, that's what I was hoping to hear.
