Never underestimate the lengths people will go to

For attention on social media. We?re in the middle of Dorian here on eastern Canada and it?s pretty nasty out. We are very thankful it?s weakened compared to its strength a week ago where it took so many lives and caused mass destruction. God help the poor souls. Right now it?s blowing close to 100mph here and raining. There?s people out driving around in the storm taking daring videos of how bad things are being damaged and posting it on Facebook. What is wrong with some people??? Stay the heck home and keep safe as you can with your family. Why is it worth it to risk their lives to capture and share videos of things being destroyed while it?s happening. I don?t understand it.

Nova Scotia was hit pretty hard earlier,we won?t know how bad it is here until the morning as it didn?t directly effect us till after dark. The current sustained winds are down to 60mph with gusts around 85. Earlier in this area a gust was recorded a little over 90mph.

The problem got a lot worse with the onset of social media. First it was weather channel folks trying to boost ratings, then other idiots decided to get in on the act.

I heard a couple years back about some idiot that started a "Storm Tourist" business, taking folks into the path of tornadoes and such. ...If the money-hungry entrepreneur is an idiot, what's that say about the customers??!!

Some people like the thrill of risking their lives in those dangerous situations. yet if it was really dangerous they would be inside.

Years back was a bad wreeck in kansas city on I 435.i barely missed it,i stopped so did another guy.we ran up to see if anybody was trapped and was going to try get em out.persons head was cut off.i about lost dinner.people came up to gawk and take pictures of his head andthe dead inside the car.i seen a coat, put it over the head.1 sick wacko started to pick coat up to shoot a picture,i stood on the coat other guy started telling everybody to get back.hiway patrol arrived, seen the gawkers and had a time getting them back.we assisted him.when it wwas over he congratulated us but we both seen no honor.we seen many disrespectful people.

Ask those fools to risk life and limb for the sake of their country and see what happens. I bet 95% would walk away.

TF,
Well said.
One could include riding a motorcycle with out a helmet, skydiving, down hill skiing bungee jumping, etc, etc.
They are not things I need or want to do but who cares if others to it.

A year or so ago weather channel trying to make it look worse than it was was shooting video of their guy barley struggling to walk in the high wind while announcing how bad it was. There was a guy in background walking with no problem.----Jerks, false news reporting caught live

In America we can mostly do as we damned well please. I was a first responder for 20 years but never resented people who did stupid things that resulted in me having to do my job or risk my life. I signed up for it.

Risking life & limb for your country is one thing, but risking it to gawk at a hurricane is quite another, unless of course, you are competing for a "Darwin award".)
