3 engine tree digger

Started mechanicing for a company and the
first day I was showed this machine. I
looked at it and said "what a nightmare".
Well upon further inspection. The
undercarriage which is a TD14 was totally
worn out. After operating it, I found out
that the hydraulic system was also a wash.
This machine was custom made for us and I
have spent that last year setting up a
rebuild and have yet to come across a
machine like it.just wondering if anyone
has seen one like it. I've seen plenty
machines that do the same job but none
built like this one. It's a beautiful old
girl and digs huge numbers of trees every
winter. Thanks for taking a look.

Wow, that is some machine!! THANK YOU for sharing your pics with us. Would sure like to learn more history on this one. What a nice treat!

Nice pics, looks like the rusty U-shaped thing at the (back/front?) is part of an old dragline. I see two fire extinguishers. Is there another one for the third engine?

Where is this, in case some one wants to look in person? I only see 2 motors - where is the 3rd one?

Yeah. It's an tuff old girl. Has two ford diesle motors in front of two manual 5 speed trans with two Simi differentials with chain drive down to final drives. Tracks are set backwards so final drives are on the outside not inside. Has a massy diesle motor that runs digging blade and a vidrator to shake trees out of the dirt once the come up and two lift cylinders. You sit 7.5 feet off the ground over top of the final drives. Located in the south east. I have totally disassembled the hydraulic system amd started on a total remanufactured on the undercarriage. Still wondering if anyone has seen one like it.

And look...it can even defy the Law of Gravity! *lol*

Sorry....inside joke. Pics often post screwy here, mostly from cell phones.

Considering that only a fraction of YT's members log in daily, there's still a chance that someone out there may have seen something similar. This machine looks like it may well be a one-of-a-kind.

Me again. I FINALLY figured out where the third engine is mounted. Wonder how that would work for picking grapes? wink, wink!!

Here are the other two. Good gravey what an assortment of parts. This looks
like one of those fantastic fantasy pieces of equipment designed by a community
of crazy people. Let us know how it goes. You gonna paint this thing when done?
