Today in 1867 ....

Crazy Horse

Well-known Member
.... the real Crazy Horse was killed by US Army troops at Fort Robinson, Nebraska. I guess General George got a bit of revenge from that. Consider this an off-topic post, I can't think of any phony reason why it might be considered as being on-topic.

I can't think of anytime that I ever tried to correct someone's post but it looks like you aimed at 1877 and missed. (;>)) The history books say he died around midnight on Sep 5th, 1877. Battle of Little Bighorn was fought in 1876 so I would go with the 1877 number. That would have made him about 37 years old.

Yup, well what's ten years here or there over 140 years ago. Thanks for the correction ..... 1867 was Canada's confederation and birthday.

It was 1877 and Custer was already dead. We stayed at Fort Robinson 2 years ago and the Native Americans had a ceremony there for the 100 year anniversary.

Yeah, I knew that about General George, he got his revenge from far above the clouds, or maybe from deep within the Earth. Two years ago a 100th anniversary ..... so 2017 - 100 = 1917, what was that all about Oly ??

I will be riding with his great great grandson next week on the Trail of Tears Motorcycle Ride. He is quite a character.

It was 140 years in 2017, wife dug out the newspaper article. I didn't believe that looked correct but was in a hurry to start mowing.

Crazy horse was Sioux and the trail of tears was the Cherokee. Though all should never be forgotten. Though not related Trail of Tears Bataan march all have similar purpose and consequences.
