Alright guys, I need some help... My parents have a F18D Yanmar diesel tractor. It is believed to be a mid 80's model.
The thing has always ran like a top, and makes great power. Today, I fired it up, drove it outside, and it was just sitting there idling, when out of no where it started knocking bad and smoking a grey/white smoke.
I limped it into our work shop, I am assuming this is sign of a failed or hung injector? I'm familiar with diesel systems, and how they work, but this is the first true mechanical diesel I've ever worked on? How do I figure out WHICH injector it is? It is a 3 cylinder, naturally aspirated.
Can anyone point me in the right direction for a proper diagnosis? Thanks!!
