I though your two questions were interesting. The number of answers in re-guard to milking surprised me! How many farmers around you raise the same crops they did 50 years ago. Around here very few make hay plus oats, sugar beets and to a certain extent tomatoes are gone. We now have potatoes, carrots green beans along with some other vegtables in the center of the county. My beater tractors would have been a Deere 730 diesel, a Cockshutt 570 or maybe a 560 and an Oliver 1750 diesel. I think we still have 8 dairy farmers in the county!
 
J., I looked back about 10 pages and never found a post by crookedcreekjerseys, although I do seem to recall a thread about the decline of dairy farming. Any idea where his original post is now?
