Clean gas tank

I have a 900 Ford
It was acting gas starved so I decided to clean the tank
I like to use nut and washers to scour, but it would be hard to get them back out of this tank.
Ideas?
Thx

Buy a few gallons of E-85. That stuff will clean out all kinds of crap. Rust is something else but just crud it does a great job. By the way this stuff stinks and don'teven think of putting it in any of your equipment! When done dump it in the fence row. Here is a little Eagle gas can I bought at a flea market. About 20 minutes of rubbing with soaked paper towels. Wear rubber gloves. Also poured some into the can and let it soak a couple of days. Sparkling clean!!!

The inside of my Jubilee's tank started flaking off. No rust, just a gray like power. Looked like gray primer dust created when you sand primer. It was a very fine dust that went past screens and even sediment bowl.

I got tired fighting it and bought a new tank from YT.

Good money spent if you consider the aggravation created when tractor dies because carb is full of the gray crap.

Small log chain works good, then strap it to a rear wheel on a tractor, jack and block tractor then idle in first and reverse, then reposition it and continue.

It's just hard to imagine not being able to shake out nuts and bolts from a loose gas tank. The nuts and bolts thing does a good cleaning however you have to be sure to get the gas fumes out. The least spark could ignite it.
