I don't know what the deal is/was, or maybe it was some drunk playing "Quick Pick" at the bar and fat fingered his number, but I woke up Saturday morning to 9 missed calls, 7 voicemails, and 2 text messages, all at 3:07AM

The 9 missed calls all came in at 3:07AM, from a 714 (California) area code.

The 7 voicemail messages were all timestamped at 3:07AM, and were of a robot rattling off a sequence of numbers.

The two text messages claimed to be from the NY Lottery with some sort of verification code.

THE FCC.. in their infinite wisdom made the telcos give the numbers to the subcribers and let the subcribers move them to anywhere in the world... Therefore the telcos could no long control them... and it cost the telcos a fortune to redo the entire system.

NOW... out of control... thanks to the previous government ruling... the FCC in their infinite wisdom... have force the telcos to fix this.. at great expense.... again... so each telco will now have to exchange a security certificate with every call they pass to another telco, so therefore if you pass a fake number you loose your ability to pass calls out side your own system.

This is suppose to fix things... BUT!!!!!!!!!
No laws apply to the subscriber so if you dont pass their fake calls you can be sued.

AND none of these rulings are enforceable on foreign companies. And most of these fake calls come from out of country locations.
