My tractor has a line with banjo fitting on front end and a tapered fitting brazed on the back end. Is anyone familiar with how to take the line apart since the soldered end won t turn? It s in a tight spot under the radiator and down the side of the block.

Until someone with a more definite answer comes along.. Does the attached drawing look right for you lines? It sounds like you are looking at item 26 or 27. Item 18 is a 37 degree fitting. That would indicate to me the tubes have hex nuts on them that turn. There would be a 37 degree female stem inside the nut that slides onto the tube and is soldered to the tube, but the nut should turn. Is there a hex at that end of the tube? There will not be much clearance between the stem and the hex nut and it might appear to be one piece unless real clean.

Item 18 part number 9402786 is replaced by 128821. If the photo of that part number I found on line is right it support my theory that the tube has a nut on the end of it, that threads onto the union.

If the two tubes connect directly with no union I would expect a rigid male end on one and the matching swivel nut on the mating tube. Just a guess, based on similar tube fittings I've seen. HTH

banjo fitting on the front, flare on the back. to get at the flare, i remove the stay rod ball socket support (the piece under the engine that the wishbone connects to). almost impossible to get a wrench on the flare nut with it in place, much less turn it. then it's 5/8 and 11/16 wrenches. if the flare nut is rusted to the tube, i'd heat it cherry red, and it should go.

Yes the drawing is correct. Part #26 is what I have. I am not even
sure how to get a wrench down there to separate the line. I thought
about getting a short 5/8? flare wrench. Otherwise it looks like I have
to take off the housing that mounts to the front end and come up from
the bottom. They sold me two o rings which go on the 37 degree
fitting I think.

Just pull that front axle support bracket off. The two o rings would be for the banjo fitting by radiator. Also, there should be a little support bracket for the two lines that is probably half missing or gone completely. Helps stabilize and seperate those lines.

Angle head wrenches may help as well. Many different brands have them available, some places have individual wrenches. You will need one that fits the nut and one to hold the union when breaking it loose and tightening. Crow's-foot adapters may work as well, open end or tubing type.

The o-ring goes under your banjo fitting. The others are flare fittings. If you can just take the banjo fitting off then replace the o-ring you don't need to take the flare fitting apart. You can take the casting holding the radiator loose and pry up some to get more room under it for the banjo fittings. With the casting loosened the whole rad and oil coolers will come up some from the front bolster .

Here is the old line which is female. Mine is male so I assume I can take out the adapter. The o rings go here I believe?
