Some thing different!!! Lavender Harvesting video!!!

I am amazed by the machinery and methods man has developed to raise/harvest the different plants/crops around the world.

This video shows them harvesting and processing Lavender flowers into lavender Oil. Starts out with the modern equipment and then moves on to older equipment. Including a very different Ford 7740 tractor. It was Bi-Directional like the Valtra tractors, meaning you just turn the seat around and have rear facing controls. Then that tractor had a harvester that instead of chopping the lavender flowers it was cutting and binding them into small bundles, just like a grain binder does. They did not show picking the bundles up but they say there will be a second video.

I dislike lavender scented soaps as they can give me splitting head aches. I wonder what the Lavender distillate plants smell like???

Lavender Harvest

Fascinating, I had no idea. Imagine the old days, hay wagon, pitchforks, team of horses or oxen, day after day harvesting. Sneezing and allergies.

I worked one summer during college in Mid-central Michigan (Stockbridge), where there is still a quite a bit of mint grown. During mint harvest season in late summer, the whole town smells like mint. I found it interesting at first, but soon became sickened by the smell. You couldn't get away from the mint smell.

There are often comments of how great our area smells when the grapes are ripe on the vines, even driving through. But, a month into 24/7 grape harvest in every kind of weather, the harvest crews just want it to be done.

So, is the moral of the story "All things in Moderation"? (One of my Dad's favorite sayings)

I need to know more about the lavender growing, is in an annual plant? Multiple bloom/harvest cycles per year, it seems they leave a lot of the plant in rows, like it is expected to continue growing. Very little GPS use shown there, even though it looks to be a prime opportunity. Even the harvester operators were steering.

Most if not all modern perfumes are vile smelling even on a person. I have driven a truck thru Gilroy, Calif. that is different.
